About the Role:
The Credit Analyst will be responsible for managing a portfolio of loans, primarily acquisition and construction loans in various locations. In particular, the Credit Analyst will provide support to Loan Funds operations by working closely with the Loan Funds Chief Credit Officer, Director of Credit, Loan Officers and Asset Managers to manage relationships with customers and closely monitor the performance of the loan and underlying project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Asset Management: The Credit Analyst will be responsible for managing a portfolio of loans, primarily acquisition and construction loans. This will include providing financial analysis of existing borrowers/guarantors, completing portfolio reviews as assigned, completing recommendations for modifications, drafting simple modifications as requested, assisting with workout plans for trouble loans as necessary, reviewing loans for covenant compliance, reviewing construction draw requests, managing construction budgets, and performing site visits.
- Loan Underwriting & Modifications: The Credit Analyst will be tasked with producing financial analysis of both for- and non-profit sponsors and/or guarantors. This will include supporting the Loan Officers and Asset Managers by performing tasks such as evaluating feasibility and likelihood of repayment sources, appraisal reviews, construction cost reviews, property condition reports, environmental reports, and site inspections.
- Other Duties as Assigned: From time to time, the Credit Analyst may be assigned other responsibilities such as assisting with data analysis for new programs and/or product initiatives, investor requests, capital funding applications, or other special requests as applicable.
Requirements:
- At a minimum 3 years of work experience, and an undergraduate degree in business, finance, real estate, urban planning, or related field is required.
- A graduate degree in business, finance, real estate, urban planning, or related field can substitute for required work experience.
- Experience in real estate-based or affordable housing finance, including credit analysis, is preferred.
- Experience with construction lending and processes is desired.
- Proficiency in analyzing financial statements of nonprofit and for-profit organizations and real estate property operations is required.
- Experience with reviewing due diligence items required to close real estate transactions is desired.
- Knowledge of the loan closing process and loan documents utilized in real estate transactions is required.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local government funding sources for construction, rehabilitation and operating needs of multi-family housing, special needs housing, and community facilities is desired.
- Experience working with both private sector financial institutions and public agencies is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Strong computer aptitude skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Programs are essential.
- Excellent skills in managing multiple tasks requiring strong attention to detail are required.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment is essential.
- Ability to travel is required.
