Risk Management Specialist

The National Slovak Society of the USA (NSS Life) seeks a highly skilled Compliance and Risk Manager to join its team. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the Society's adherence to regulatory requirements and maintaining its financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee compliance policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational goals.
- Lead the implementation and periodic review of compliance policies and procedures, maintaining the Society's enterprise risk management framework.
- Ensure the Society's adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including the NSS Constitution and Bylaws.
- Establish processes for ongoing compliance monitoring and reporting, providing regular updates to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Manage all required regulatory filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, including submissions to state authorities and the NAIC.
- Conduct compliance training programs for staff to promote awareness and understanding of regulatory requirements and ethical standards as needed.
- Coordinate internal audits to assess compliance with policies and procedures, recommending corrective action as required.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities, and developing strategies to mitigate risks.
- Serve as a liaison with external regulatory agencies, auditors, and other stakeholders, representing the Society's interests and maintaining positive relationships.
- Regularly review and update compliance policies and procedures to reflect changes in regulations, industry best practices, and organizational needs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is advantageous.
- Five years of experience in compliance, risk management, and/or a related field, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry, is required.
- Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP) designation is preferred.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Fraternal Insurance Counselor (FIC) designation is preferred.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution.
- Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
- Strategic mindset with the capacity to adapt operations to evolving needs.
