About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Public Sector Field Examiner Representative to join our team at the Ohio Department of Commerce.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting site evaluations and monitoring third-party testing locations, ensuring compliance with applicable state procedures and statutes. They will also prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and recommend corrective action as needed. Additionally, they will assist in training new third-party examiners by providing technical and instructional training and actual Class D skills testing.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting vehicle inspections to determine whether applicants know their vehicles are safe to drive
  • Administering maneuverability skills tests and scoring examinations to determine whether applicants have passed or failed
  • Testing and screening applicants for disabilities or medical problems and determining whether restrictions should be placed on their licenses
  • Reporting daily visits and addressing public complaints relative to assigned testing offices

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A formal education in arithmetic, including calculating fractions, decimals, and percentages, and reading, writing, and speaking English
  • 1 course or 3 months' experience in human/public relations, 6 months' training or experience in operating a personal computer, and 1 course or 3 months' experience in typing or word processing
  • 12 months' training or experience in laws and signs applicable for operation of all types of motorized vehicles and Bureau of Motor Vehicles' rules, policies, and procedures governing testing for and issuance of licenses
  • A valid Ohio Class 'D' Driver License

Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this role is between $60,000 and $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
