General Surgeon Opportunity in Rural Alaska

We are seeking a skilled General Surgeon to provide temporary coverage for our full-time providers in a unique and beautiful rural location. This is an excellent opportunity to experience the benefits of working in a close-knit community and enjoying the scenic beauty of Alaska.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide temporary General Surgery call coverage for our full-time providers.
  • Work a flexible schedule with on-call coverage required for one week on one week off.
  • Must stay within 20 minutes of the facility while providing call coverage.
Requirements:
  • Experienced physician with a current Alaska medical license required.
  • Ideal candidate will have a passion for rural medicine and a dedication to high quality care.
About the Facility:

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center is the sole provider of acute and emergency care for Kodiak Island. This 25-bed critical-access hospital plays an indispensable role in the lives of 14,000 Kodiak residents, the Coast Guard base and neighboring villages.

About the Community:

Kodiak is famous for its fishing, huge Kodiak brown bears and lush mountains. The Kodiak Islanders also pride themselves on lesser-known highlights, such as excellent public and private schools, organized youth sports, several churches, museums and dozens of annual community events.
