Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Teacher to join our team at the Early Education Program. As a Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for leading a team of preschool staff in providing a nurturing and educational environment for children living at 200% of the poverty level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Leadership: Ensure children's safety and engagement in developmentally appropriate play and activities.
  • Staff Development: Provide training and support to staff to ensure children meet developmental goals.
  • Family Partnerships: Engage in positive interactions and partnerships with families, and communicate regularly about child progress and successes.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Data Collection: Collect necessary data for assessment tools such as AEPS.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Ensure implementation of program curricula, including Creative Curriculum and PATHS social-emotional curriculum.
  • Record Keeping: Oversee record keeping for children and family paperwork, including enrollment paperwork and other records related to Preschool Promise and the Oregon Office of Childcare.
Requirements
  • Certifications and Education: Enrolled in Oregon's Criminal Background Registry (CBR), Step 8 or higher on Oregon Registry required, Bachelor's/Master's Degree in child/education-related field preferred.
  • Experience: Two years of successful teaching in a preschool classroom setting required, two years of successful teaching in a preschool that focuses on children with special needs preferred.
  • Skills: Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher with good communication and instructional skills, cool-tempered, friendly, and reliable, balance between creative mind and practical acumen, understanding of child development and preschool educational methods, familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms, good communication and instructional skills, ability to act as a mediator between children, current food handler's card and CPR/First Aid.
