Job Title: Preschool Assistant Teacher

We are seeking a qualified Preschool Assistant Teacher to join our Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) classroom team in Eugene. As a key member of our teaching team, you will help provide a safe, organized, and nurturing instructional program for our preschoolers with special needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
  • Assist in setting up, organizing, and maintaining the classroom and materials.
  • Interact with children in a warm and positive way, showing enthusiasm and nurturing qualities.
  • Be flexible and responsive to individual child needs.
  • Support every child in meeting developmental goals outlined in Oregon's Early Learning and Kindergarten Guidelines.
  • Use strategies to prevent challenging behavior and deal with child feelings with empathy.
  • Assist in lesson planning and leading one-on-one and small groups daily.
  • Assess child progress regularly and maintain required State licensing requirements.
  • Be welcoming to families and maintain confidentiality of family records.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with preschoolers is required.
  • Preschool teaching experience is preferred.
  • Experience with children with special needs is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for teaching are required.
  • Cool-tempered, friendly, and accepting of feelings is required.
