Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for all essential duties of a Physical Therapist I
    • Meets all essential duties and responsibilities as outlined for a Physical Therapist I.
    • Takes on a more complex and involved patient caseload.
  • Engagement in educational and mentorship activities with physical therapy students, medical students, colleagues, hospital personnel, and the community.

    • Advocates for Physical Therapy to other professionals and the community through involvement in educational and promotional initiatives.
    • Conducts in-service training for colleagues in Rehabilitation Services and hospital staff.

    • Supports the orientation process for new staff members.
  • Involvement in the growth and operations of Rehabilitation Services.
    • Takes charge of significant projects or committees that align with established goals and objectives.
    • Contributes to the development of treatment protocols, service policies, and clinical competencies.
    • Participates in process enhancement and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Undertakes other related responsibilities as assigned.

Licensure:

  • Licensed Physical Therapist

Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy. * 2-3 years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting. * Experience supervising students. * Advanced continuing education. * Experience providing in-service training to peers. Must maintain continuing education requirements as mandated by professional/regulatory standards.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Strong communication skills. * Ability to independently provide advanced clinical skills and expertise.
  • Illinois state licensure. Core Stroke Team requires 8 hours of annual Stroke Education.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • May encounter hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases. * Direct contact with bodily fluids. * Involves pushing, pulling, lifting, and transferring patients. * Services may be required on weekends and holidays and during early evening hours. * Off-campus locations may be involved.
  • This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts exceeding 35 pounds, or when the patient is unable to assist, patient handling equipment is expected to be utilized, with at least one other associate when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
