Director of Risk Management
Full-Time Position
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze occurrence reports and accurately input relevant data into the database.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure thorough follow-up.
- Identify reports that necessitate further examination.
- Prepare reports for regulatory bodies as required.
- Conduct investigations into adverse events to assess liability risks, which may involve discussions with nursing staff, physicians, and hospital personnel.
- Oversee the agenda for monthly litigation, claims, and events meetings (Professional Safety Committee) and ensure the availability of committee members for review.
- Generate comprehensive reports on lawsuits, claims, or events, which involve evaluating and organizing medical documentation and gathering essential facts and information.
- Serve as a resource for hospital staff regarding risk management topics such as informed consent, documentation practices, patient behavior, policies, and procedures.
- Investigate patient grievances with potential liability implications.
- Determine the most suitable management approach and assist in drafting responses to grievances.
- Engage in committees that address matters with risk management significance.
- Deliver educational sessions on risk management to various departments or units, covering topics such as incident reporting, documentation, compliance with regulations, and management of patient complaints, or other identified issues.
- Assist the AVP/VP of Risk and legal counsel in interpreting and understanding the medical aspects of malpractice claims.
- Follow up and evaluate potentially compensable claims and events, preparing summaries that demonstrate analytical capabilities.
- Maintain ongoing communication with healthcare providers and frequent interactions with attorneys both within and outside the organization.
- Manage special projects as necessary for risk management and MIAC.
- Advise on patient management to OPE, Service Excellence, and all support departments.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN), Physician Assistant (PA), or a comparable clinical qualification.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Hospital Risk Management, quality assurance, or a similar leadership role.
- Proficient in presenting to both large and small groups.
- Organized and forward-thinking.
- Exceptional writing abilities.
- Capable of multitasking and prioritizing effectively.
- Ability to cultivate strong relationships with physicians, senior management, and frontline staff.
- A collaborative team player and leader.
- Ability to remain composed under pressure.
- Experience in managing special projects.

USD $170,000.00/Yr.
