Quality Assurance Manager Overview:

This role is pivotal in steering all activities related to the Quality Management System (QMS) within the organization. The Quality Assurance Manager will provide daily guidance and oversight to ensure that quality objectives align with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as Inspection, Internal Process Standards (IPS), Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), and Engineering Change Notices (ECN). The manager will also be responsible for preparing all necessary quality documentation required by customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive QMS initiatives to cultivate a quality-centric culture based on AS9100 standards and the pursuit of excellence in CNC machining.
  • Oversee the Non-Conforming Material Reporting (NCR) and Cost of Quality (COQ) systems. Analyze and report relevant data, collaborating with engineering and operations to identify root causes of non-conformances and implement preventive measures.
  • Manage all quality-related interactions with customers, including the preparation of essential documentation such as Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Initial Sample Inspection Report (ISIR). Coordinate source inspections and address customer complaints effectively.
  • Supervise and mentor the inspection team, prioritizing work orders and providing technical support while identifying training opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to develop In-Process Inspection (IPI) documentation that maximizes efficiency while ensuring compliance with customer and quality standards.
  • Formulate inspection strategies utilizing CMM/Vision Systems, including programming assistance as necessary.
  • Conduct first piece inspections and promptly communicate results to relevant stakeholders to facilitate necessary adjustments for compliance.
  • Engage with machinists continuously to ensure understanding of quality and inspection requirements, emphasizing the importance of actions that lead to conforming parts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Previous supervisory experience is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with inspection software such as PCDMIS or Zone 3.
