The Healthcare Staff Management Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the medical staff's adherence to accreditation and regulatory standards. This position provides essential support for the Medical Executive Committees, which includes agenda creation, meeting coordination, documentation, and follow-up actions. The specialist also assists medical staff officers in fulfilling their responsibilities. Key duties include overseeing compliance with policies and privileges and maintaining records for expired documents. Additionally, the specialist is responsible for the ongoing development and execution of medical staff orientation in collaboration with the Director of the Medical Staff Office. Interaction with medical staff members, hospital administration, practice administration, and corporate management is a significant aspect of this role. The specialist will also contribute to budget preparation and is accountable for managing departmental expenses.
Key Responsibilities:
The Healthcare Staff Management Specialist will be tasked with establishing and managing the hospital-wide Professional Practice Evaluation (PPE) process (FPPE) for all licensed Independent Practitioners (LIPs), utilizing screening criteria for monitoring and evaluating clinical and professional performance.
- Facilitates FPPE and Peer Review activities across the hospital.
- Coordinates review processes with medical staff leaders, ensuring effective communication with reviewers, managing sensitive information, and performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Medical Staff Services.
- Assists in the development of clinical indicators for medical staff to monitor and evaluate the quality of care and services provided by practitioners.
- Maintains documentation of findings and outcomes within a secure data reporting system.
- Ensures compliance with relevant regulatory guidelines, state and federal statutes, and medical bylaws, rules, and policies.
- Provides information and education regarding the FPPE process to medical staff as needed.
- Identifies opportunities for organizational process improvements.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
- High School Diploma is required.
- Associate's Degree is preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience is required.
- At least six (6) months of credentialing or medical staff experience is necessary.
- Five (5) years of experience may be accepted in lieu of an Associate's Degree.
