We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse Unit Supervisor to join our team at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. As a key member of our nursing leadership team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and leading a team of registered nurses to achieve exceptional patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Management
- Conduct effective safety huddles to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Ensure all audits are completed accurately and delivered on time.
- Conduct or delegate safety rounds to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Quality and Patient Safety
- Review core measures, key performance indicators, and other metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure environmental rounds and operational checks are completed, and follow up with relevant departments to close out identified issues.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Participate in emergency and safety preparedness drills/trainings as required.
- Participate in simulation labs and Operating Room safety stand-downs.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care transitions.
- Professional Development
- Contribute to professional decision-making to support and implement unit-based quality improvement work and strategic outcomes.
- Recognize, coach, and mentor staff in all elements of the care delivery model.
- At least one year of Registered Nurse clinical experience, with a preference for more than two years of experience specific to the focus of the nursing unit.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred; Associate Degree RNs are also considered, but must be within one year of completing their BSN.
- Completion of a revised Charge Nurse workshop within the first 90 days of employment.
- BLS certification by the American Heart Association required; specialty certification within one year of hire or obtain within one year of eligibility.
