Opelousas General Health System is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide direct patient care to patients utilizing the nursing process, perform technical nursing functions, and uphold the standard of practice of a professional nurse in caring for our step down patients.

Responsibilities:

* Utilize the nursing process as the basis for nursing care.
* Provide direct patient care.
* Perform nursing functions, applying professional skills.
* Document and maintain data on patient's record.
* Maintain a safe environment.
* Apply basic teaching / learning concepts to patient education.
* Provide for life support.
* Act as a patient advocate.
* Cooperate as a member of the nursing unit, department and overall hospital team.
* Participate in performance improvement.
* Delegate and / or supervise aspects of care to team members and review completion.
* Perform related work as required.
* Communicate pertinent data to appropriate parties.
* Maintain patient confidentiality.
* Conduct himself/herself effectively in stressful situations.
* Approach situations with distressed patients, families, and visitors in a calm, professional manner.
* Collaborate with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients.
* Properly assess and manage patient populations with appropriate intervention.
* Administer intravenous medications and / or parenteral nutrition.
* Administer blood products and evaluate patient response.

Requirements:

* Associates degree from accredited school of nursing required.
* Bachelor's degree from accredited school of nursing preferred.
* Louisiana licensed Registered Nurse required.
* CPR required.
* ACLS preferred.
