As an Automotive Service Specialist, you will play a crucial role as a skilled technician, responsible for diagnosing and repairing a wide range of automotive issues, while also having the opportunity to specialize in specific areas of repair.

Key Responsibilities:
- Execute tasks as outlined on repair orders, including oil changes, tune-ups, fluid level checks and replacements, filter changes, and tire rotations, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in line with dealership and manufacturer standards.
- Diagnose malfunctions using advanced digital testing and diagnostic tools, perform test drives, identify noises, and carry out necessary repairs.
- Collaborate with the parts department to procure required components.
- Tag and save parts for warranty purposes or customer requests.
- Inspect assigned vehicles to assess if additional safety or service work is necessary, utilizing checklists.
- Communicate promptly with service advisors and customers regarding any additional work needed, unnecessary work, or delays in repairs, providing labor and time estimates for any extra tasks.
- Document all performed work and recommendations on the repair order.
- Conduct road tests on vehicles as needed or refer to the designated test technician.
- Engage in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events to enhance skills.
- Stay updated on manufacturer technical bulletins.
- Oversee the work of apprentice technicians as assigned.
- Report any machinery defects or malfunctions to management.
- Ensure that customer vehicles are maintained in a clean condition, notifying service advisors of any changes in appearance or condition.
- Maintain a tidy and organized shop area.
- Be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, ensuring they are returned in the same condition as received.
- Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know standards.
- Operate all tools and equipment safely.
- Immediately report any safety concerns to management.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a dealership setting is preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information effectively.
- Proficient in using a computer to search for technical bulletins or information.
- Must provide personal tools; all manufacturer-specific tools will be supplied by the dealership.
- ASE certification is preferred.
- Must have OSHA-approved footwear.
