Job Overview

The Applications Engineer plays a pivotal role in designing, quoting, and providing technical support for Integrated Material Handling Systems. This position requires proficiency in the Systems Quotation Process, order reception, contract review, and preparation stages to ensure seamless order management by the ISG Project Management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and support sales of material handling systems to current and prospective customers, ensuring timely and accurate quote delivery.
  • Maintain a high quote load with respect to issuance date and backlog load, ensuring efficient project management.
  • Receive and analyze project specifications, selecting suitable machine and system configurations to meet customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and legal departments to prepare compliant offerings, ensuring adherence to project specifications.
  • Source pricing and technical information from suppliers, negotiating optimal pricing and terms whenever possible.
  • Utilize CRM to provide project references, update information, and conclude with proper conversion to SAP upon order.
  • Employ engineering/design productivity tools to prepare or delegate preparation of computer-generated drawings, supporting quotation efforts.
  • Deliver soundly-priced, value-driven offerings that meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Produce cost sheets to illustrate project sales and profit margins for large or contested projects, ensuring informed decision-making.
  • Develop project schedules in support of quotation, as requested by customers or stakeholders.
  • Provide technical backup in Sales presentations, both online and in-person, supporting Sales Managers and representatives.
  • Meet with customers, installation contractors, and area representatives in the field for sales calls and site reviews.
  • Analyze Purchase Orders for contract review, pricing reconciliation, project execution details, commitment, and scope.
  • Ensure validated order hand-off to ISG Project Management, attending order entry meetings.
  • Contribute to the ISG department quotation system, providing valuable insights and expertise.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third-party vendors and OEMs, ensuring seamless collaboration and support.
  • Understand installation services and estimate pricing accordingly, ensuring accurate quoting and project management.
  • Utilize systems sizing and presentation tools to effectively communicate with customers and stakeholders.
  • Provide engineering input on design, layout, assemblies, or components, ensuring optimal system performance.
  • Organize and facilitate order entry with ISG Project Management and CCC department, ensuring efficient project execution.
  • Participate in weekly Production Services and Sales meetings, staying informed and aligned with company objectives.
  • Maintain backup and archival files, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
  • Ensure quality service to internal and external customers, enforcing quality and customer service standards, and resolving urgent concerns in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of previous project management-related experience, with at least 3 years in a similar role at Universal Dynamics Inc.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills, with a strong ability to articulate complex ideas.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity and concision.
  • Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and ERP Systems, with experience in related project management software.
  • Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • SAP (ERP) business system practical experience, with a strong understanding of system functionality and integration.
