Key Responsibilities:
The Healthcare Billing Specialist will undertake various tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Enhancing revenue by negotiating payment plans, collecting accounts, and tracking overdue accounts.
  • Managing delinquent accounts by setting up payment arrangements with patients, overseeing payments, and following up on missed payments.
  • Utilizing collection agencies and legal avenues to recover debts by assessing and selecting appropriate agencies and determining the need for legal action.
  • Maintaining Medicare bad-debt reports by monitoring billings and collections, and compiling necessary data.
  • Initiating claims against estates by tracking deceased patients and coordinating with the legal department on probate matters.
  • Securing outstanding payments for hospital staff through payroll deductions and obtaining necessary authorizations.
  • Ensuring obstetrical payments are secured by gathering information from patients prior to delivery and issuing monthly statements.
  • Upholding operational standards by adhering to established policies and procedures and reporting any compliance issues.
  • Maintaining quality outcomes by following industry standards.
  • Protecting the confidentiality of collection information to safeguard the office's integrity.
  • Enhancing professional knowledge by engaging in continuous education opportunities.
  • Upholding the hospital community's standards by adhering to professional guidelines, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contributing to the billing department's reputation by taking ownership of new challenges and exploring opportunities for improvement.
