Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Generator Technician to join our team at National Power. As a Generator Technician, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on generators and parallel systems, as well as troubleshooting and repairing Automatic Transfer Switches.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on generators and parallel systems, including oil and filter changes, troubleshooting AC and DC circuits, and replacing components as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Automatic Transfer Switches, including bypass isolation and closed transition types.
  • Perform load bank testing on generators to ensure they are operating within specifications.
  • Assist other technicians with large multi-person jobs or complicated issues.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; Associate degree in an electrical/mechanical related field preferred.
  • Current Generac Power Systems certification preferred.
  • US Air Force Electrical Power Production Specialist, US Navy Electrician's Mate, or Generator and/or UPS field service technician preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to provide verbal/written reports of job status and repair recommendations.
  • Ability to account for time spent on jobs and travel.
  • Valid driver's license and excellent driving record.
  • Good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft software, including Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, and Adobe.
Work Environment
  • Work in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, snow, and high humidity.
  • Frequently work near moving mechanical parts.
Physical Demands
  • Lifting and carrying heavy objects, up to 75lbs, required.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, scaffolding, stairs, ramps, and the like using feet/legs and/or hands/arms.
  • Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand(s).
