Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Senior Supervisor for Small Vehicles and Tires, as well as Medium Duty equipment, the Light Equipment Technician is tasked with the comprehensive mechanical upkeep of light vehicles and diesel-powered support machinery, ensuring alignment with Kinross' core values throughout daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues on heavy machinery with precision.
  • Execute repairs promptly to minimize operational downtime.
  • Accurately order necessary parts and complete all related documentation.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure efficient repairs with minimal disruption.
  • Conduct thorough diagnostics on machinery and components requiring repair.
  • Utilize onboard ECM systems for fault retrieval and diagnostics.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Submit well-documented work orders in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with the Maintenance Supervisor and other teams regarding work progress.
  • Comply with all company policies, including safety and environmental standards.
  • Meet or exceed performance expectations set by management.
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion in all job functions.
  • Maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
  • Assist in the development of team members to enhance their skills.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with all machinery under maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret hydrological and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of engine and powertrain design and functionality.
  • Proficient in using tools and equipment necessary for maintenance tasks.
  • Experience with the JDE system is preferred.
  • Effective problem-solving skills across various mechanical challenges.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting with minimal supervision.
  • Basic welding and cutting skills are advantageous.
  • Capability to operate various equipment, including forklifts and service trucks.
  • Willingness to work in diverse weather conditions.
  • Preferred qualifications include a Diesel Technician's Degree or Automotive Technician's Degree.
  • Automotive certifications such as Ford or ASE are desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • General understanding of mining operations and maintenance practices.
  • Proficient in PC applications including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and technical writing abilities.
  • Must be 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
