Position Overview:

Job Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Technician will be responsible for conducting maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of vehicles, including trucks, heavy machinery, and other equipment within the fleet of Alpha Paving.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts maintenance on a fleet of vehicles, which may include trucks, heavy machinery, and trailers.
  • Performs routine and preventive maintenance tasks such as oil changes and system tune-ups.
  • Executes diagnostic tests on various components and systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Identifies mechanical issues through visual inspections and diagnostic tools.
  • Utilizes a standard checklist to assess critical components and systems.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts and systems, including brake components, belts, water pumps, and transmissions.
  • Plans and schedules repair and maintenance activities efficiently.
  • Visits job sites to evaluate vehicle conditions.
  • Conducts test drives to verify safe and effective operation.
  • Performs additional related duties as required.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle repair processes.
  • Strong mechanical repair capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to interpret service and repair manuals effectively.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic equipment and software.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of a vocational or technical program in automotive repair or a related field is necessary.
  • Preferred experience of two years in a similar role.
  • A Commercial Driver's License may be required.
