Position Summary:
The Operator 2 is responsible for operating advanced machinery and equipment to produce and transport railcar components and sub-assemblies. This role includes operating forklifts and overhead cranes to manage material movement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
To excel in this position, the individual must competently perform the following essential duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to adapt to business needs and evolving practices.

1. Operate advanced machinery including, but not limited to, Welding Machines, Plasma Cutting tools, Gouging Machines, Shears, Submerged Arc Seamers, and CNC Plasma Tables.

2. Utilize forklifts and overhead cranes to position materials for the production of railcar components and sub-assemblies.

3. Ensure that equipment is properly maintained and functioning before commencing work.

4. Read and interpret blueprints or welding drawings and procedures.

5. Provide guidance to Operator 1 as necessary in various production tasks.

6. Maintain safety and housekeeping standards.

Qualifications:
The following outlines the requirements necessary to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. 6+ months of experience operating various types of manufacturing equipment and machinery.

2. Ability to read and understand blueprints and work instructions.

3. Proficiency in using a computer.

4. Capability to work collaboratively or independently.

5. Ability to obtain in-house forklift certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

2. 1+ years of experience operating various types of manufacturing equipment and machinery.

This position operates in a production environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, moving machinery, and trip hazards, requiring personal protective equipment such as head, eye, hearing, and foot protection, including composite-toed safety shoes.


Exposure to welding, machining, forming, metal surface treatment, laser cutting, plasma cutting, and other metalworking and assembly processes may occur.

Additional PPE may be required based on the environment.
