At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of space technology and innovation. As a Manufacturing Engineer Fasteners Specialist, you'll play a critical role in developing novel solutions that enable human life on Mars.


You'll work on launch vehicles and spacecraft that will deliver satellites into earth orbit, ferry humans to and from the international space station, and ultimately extend humanity's reach beyond the earth and moon.


As a key member of our development and production teams, you'll own the relationship between our teams and provide input into the design and development of new and existing hardware.


Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the production, assembly, and integration of the high mix, low quantity fastener line.
  • Resolving, analyzing, and solving manufacturing discrepancies, while interfacing with the quality team.
  • Aggressively driving and implementing process improvements to reduce assembly hours and build cost.
  • Fully developing and implementing future state production systems for all products.
  • Creating capital/facility justifications for large projects and managing through implementation and runoff.


Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering required. 1+ years of experience in industrial or complex manufacturing environment (or equivalent internship experience). Experience with CNC lathe machines or in a fastener manufacturing facility a plus.


Preferred skills and experience include:

  • Experience with complex parts utilizing multi-axis milling and turning technology.
  • Strong assembly and metal processing background, i.e. Heat-Treating, Thread-Rolling, Grinding, Cold-Forming.
  • Knowledge of mechanical testing, i.e. Tensile Testing, Shear Testing, Fatigue Testing.
  • CAD experience (NX & Teamcenter a plus).
  • Strong understanding of NC programming, CMM programming, PLC programming.
  • Experience with capacity modeling, process mapping, and fault analysis.
  • Pareto analysis, root cause, and corrective action experience.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) experience.
