Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Fasteners

At SpaceX, we are pushing the boundaries of space technology and innovation. As a Manufacturing Engineer Fasteners, you will play a critical role in developing novel solutions at the cutting edge of space technology.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the production, assembly, and integration of the high-mix, low-quantity fastener line.
  • Resolve, analyze, and solve manufacturing discrepancies, while interfacing with the quality team (resolving issues for design, fabrication, and assembly).
  • Aggressively drive and implement process improvements to reduce assembly hours and build cost.
  • Fully develop and implement future state production systems for all products.
  • Create capital/facility justifications for large projects and manage through implementation and runoff.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience in industrial or complex manufacturing environment (or equivalent internship experience).
  • Experience with CNC lathe machines or in a fastener manufacturing facility.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with complex parts utilizing multi-axis milling and turning technology.
  • Strong assembly and metal processing background, i.e. Heat-Treating, Thread-Rolling, Grinding, Cold-Forming.
  • Knowledge of mechanical testing, i.e. Tensile Testing, Shear Testing, Fatigue Testing.
  • CAD experience (NX & Teamcenter a plus).
  • Strong understanding of NC programming, CMM programming, PLC programming.
  • Experience with capacity modeling, process mapping, and fault analysis.
  • Pareto analysis, root cause, and corrective action experience.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) experience.
