Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Leader is responsible for establishing, executing, and enhancing a framework that ensures all Duke products comply with customer specifications while achieving exceptional quality and reliability. This role involves leading and mentoring the Quality team to enhance engagement and performance. The Quality Assurance Leader will work collaboratively across departments and with clients and suppliers to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions to mitigate risks associated with quality and reliability standards. This position also plays a crucial role in promoting and sustaining quality management best practices that reflect Duke's values.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain quality assurance objectives and strategies that align with organizational goals.
  2. Oversee the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the quality management system, utilizing industry best practices and internal data.
  3. Create and utilize visual management tools to track the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
  4. Guide and mentor Quality Team members to foster their engagement and professional growth.
  5. Enhance the technical, problem-solving, and leadership capabilities of the Quality team.
  6. Provide training to Quality and Production staff on quality standards and best practices, fostering a culture of quality.
  7. Manage internal, certification, and supplier audit schedules and programs.
  8. Ensure compliance with Duke's ISO certification and other quality-related certifications, collaborating with the Compliance Manager to implement improvements based on audit feedback.
  9. Oversee the management of Duke's quality document control system.
  10. Work with production and engineering teams to ensure designs and processes consistently meet quality standards, developing necessary quality plans and documentation.
  11. Conduct internal audits as a certified Internal Auditor and provide coaching to audit team members.
  12. Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action implementation with team members and suppliers to enhance product and process quality, documenting and sharing insights with stakeholders.
  13. Keep stakeholders updated on significant quality assurance issues and the actions taken to address them.
  14. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  15. Analyze quality performance data and metrics to identify risks and opportunities for improvement, maintaining departmental KPIs.
  16. Lead continuous improvement projects within the Quality department, including daily management, projects, and rapid improvement events.
  17. Embody and promote Duke's core Values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing context.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality control standards, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with quality management software and tools.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree and/or Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Certification in quality management (e.g., Certified Quality Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt).
  • Experience with lean manufacturing methodologies.
