Job Title: Quality Manager

Job Summary:

The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving a system to ensure that all Duke products meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels. This role leads and develops Quality team members, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and communicates with customers and suppliers to analyze problems, determine root causes, and provide solutions to reduce or eliminate risks to achieving quality and reliability standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain quality assurance capabilities, objectives, and roadmaps that support enterprise goals and strategy deployment.
  2. Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the quality management system based on industry best practices, data from warranty, audit, and other internal sources.
  3. Create and maintain visual management tools to monitor the Quality Management System.
  4. Lead and develop Quality Team members to maximize their engagement and realize their potential.
  5. Continuously improve technical, problem-solving, and leadership skills of the Quality team.
  6. Provide training to Quality and Production employees on quality requirements and best practices and promote a culture of quality.
  7. Develop, maintain, and monitor internal, certification, and supplier audit schedules and programs.
  8. Maintain and monitor Duke's ISO certification and other Quality-related certifications, in partnership with the Compliance Manager.
  9. Manage the maintenance of Duke's quality document control system.
  10. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure designs and processes are capable of consistently meeting quality standards. Develop quality plans and related documentation to support.
  11. Conduct audits and coach audit team members.
  12. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective action with Duke team members and suppliers to improve the quality of Duke products and processes.
  13. Keep stakeholders informed of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
  14. Serve on continuous improvement teams.
  15. Monitor and analyze quality performance data and metrics to identify risks and opportunities and drive improvement efforts. Maintain department KPIs.
  16. Lead continuous improvement efforts in the Quality department, including Managing for Daily Improvement, Projects, and Rapid Improvement Events.
  17. Lives and teaches the Duke Values.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field is a must.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supervising a quality management team within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control standards, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in quality management software and tools.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree and/or Master's degree in a related field.
  • Certification in quality management (e.g., Certified Quality Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt).
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
