Job Summary:

As a Team Leader Registered Nurse in the Access Center, you will provide daily oversight to the Access Center nurses and assist in the management of assigned staff to ensure optimal patient flow.

You will cultivate a positive working relationship with leadership, physicians, hospital staff, and referrals, and lead, train, and mentor staff in the operation of the Access Center and its processes.

You will also oversee scheduling to ensure staffing meets the needs of the Access Center processes at both hospitals, and perform and/or assist with clinical coordination, quality assurance programs, and maintaining standards for CAMTS accreditation criteria for the Access Center.

You will maintain and implement knowledge of all protocols, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines that impact the Access Center and ensure that the area is in compliance.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform all roles and responsibilities of the Access Center nurse.
  2. Evaluate employee performance against existing department and organizational standards, including annual PEAC review, quarterly reviews, coaching, feedback sessions, employee recognition, etc.
  3. Assist in the selection, training, motivation, supervision, and evaluation of the Access Center nurses to ensure maximum utilization of individual and group capabilities, while providing optimal service to internal and external customers.
  4. Support communication that augments safe practices, explains and supports a just, accountable, and reporting culture of safety. Embrace the integrated safety management system into all aspects of the department.
  5. Lead/Assist with QA, PI projects, and adherence with CAMTS accreditation criteria within the Access Center.
  6. Responsible for PI and QI projects as assigned within the Access Center.
  7. Responsible for performing and reporting progress/data QI and PI projects to the Transport Quality Program Manager.
  8. Work with medical director and Access Center leadership in creating and updating protocols with physician leaders; as well as monitoring quality and compliance to the protocols and providing feedback on an individual basis regarding QA issues.
  9. Provide assistance in identifying cases to be presented in Transport QA meetings and system opportunities at Transport PI Committee.
  10. Coordinate completion of employee schedules with the staff and manager.
  11. Support action plans as a result of the feedback received from the annual Experience, Inclusion and Engagement Survey.
  12. Stay abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in prehospital care by attending seminars and workshops, reading professional journals, and maintaining flight communicator certification and integrate this knowledge into the job as appropriate. Ensure that assigned staff receives opportunities to further their knowledge.
  13. Identify and analyze the design of jobs, work processes, and workflow for the department and work with leadership to implement appropriate changes to improve effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency.
Requirements:
  1. At least 2 years of experience in hospital Transport or Access Center required.
  2. Previous leadership experience or demonstrated skill required.
  3. Four-year Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
  4. FEMA 100- within 180 days of hire required.
  5. FEMA 200-within 180 days of hire required.
  6. Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas upon hire required.
  7. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements upon hire required.
  8. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification upon hire required.
  9. Certified Flight Communicator within 1 year required.
  10. Licensure/Certification as a paramedic or EMT preferred.
