The Oil, Gas & Chemical division engages in a wide array of projects spanning the industrial landscape, including gas processing facilities, midstream operations, refining plants, chemical manufacturing, and independent storage and logistics infrastructures.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will contribute to projects across diverse industry sectors, particularly in the vital areas of renewable energy and carbon management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Specialize in the design and specification of both shop-fabricated and field-erected API aboveground storage tanks, particularly API 650 tanks.
- Develop technical bid and procurement documents based on process specifications, client requirements, and relevant industry standards.
- Evaluate vendor equipment proposals and prepare comprehensive technical assessments.
- Review vendor drawings and documentation, maintaining regular communication and coordination with equipment suppliers.
- Collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines to fulfill project design criteria and effectively manage the flow of data and design modifications.
- Conduct inter-discipline document reviews, including P&IDs, layout plans, and construction contracts.
- Engage in construction planning, site evaluations, and scope assessments.
- Mentor junior staff and take on additional responsibilities, including overseeing the execution of tasks performed by less-experienced engineers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program, accompanied by successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- A Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering may substitute for one year of experience.- A minimum of 7 years of mechanical engineering experience focused on the design and specification of API 650 storage tanks.
- Familiarity with API 620 and 625 is advantageous.- Experience with Geodesic Domes and ASME Sec. VIII Div. 2 Spheres is a plus.
- Knowledge of API 653 tank inspection, repair, and modification is beneficial.
- Experience with UL142 & UL58 tanks is also favorable.
- Professional Engineering License (PE) is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Previous experience in the EPC industry and/or tank fabrication and erection is advantageous.
- Familiarity with design codes and standards such as ASME, API, and PIP is preferred.
- TWIC eligibility is strongly preferred.
