Job Title: Certified RN AnesthetistJob Summary

Connecticut Children's seeks a skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our team. As a CRNA, you will work collaboratively with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other physicians to deliver high-quality anesthesia care to patients undergoing medical and surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate patients according to their specific age, development stage, and diagnosis.
  • Recommend and evaluate diagnostic studies, and document pre-anesthetic evaluations.
  • Educate patients about surgery, recovery, and obtain informed consent for anesthesia.
  • Prepare operating rooms, set up and check anesthesia machines, supplies, medications, and gases.
  • Select and administer anesthetic agents or other agents administered in management of anesthetic care.
  • Inform anesthesiologists and/or surgeons of changes in patient condition.
  • Provide anesthesia induction, maintenance, emergence, and post-anesthesia care.
  • Provide perianesthetic invasive and non-invasive monitoring using current standards and techniques.
  • Respond to abnormal findings with corrective action.
  • Recognize and treat cardiac dysrhythmias through use of perianesthetic electrocardiogram monitoring.
  • Evaluate patient response during emergence from anesthesia and institute pharmacological or supportive treatment to ensure adequacy of patient recovery.
  • Provide post-anesthesia follow-up, report, and evaluation of patient response to anesthesia and for potential anesthetic complications.
  • Identify and manage emergency situations, and initiate or participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Perform or order equipment safety checks as needed.
Qualifications
  • A baccalaureate or graduate degree in nursing.
  • Graduation from a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
  • License as a Registered Nurse in the state of Connecticut.
  • Specialty license as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the state of Connecticut.
  • Certification or Recertification by The National Board on Certification of Nurse Anesthesia, NBCRNA.
  • PALS.
