Position Overview

The Emergency Medicine Physician plays a crucial role in diagnosing, preventing, and treating health issues presented by patients in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with Corewell Health staff, promoting a culture centered on safety, teamwork, compassion, and collaboration. Commit to delivering exceptional service and personalized care to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support operational, financial, and patient satisfaction objectives, ensuring timely completion of competencies and mandatory training.
  • Evaluate and address the medical needs of patients, delivering high-quality medical services efficiently while ensuring continuous coverage of caseloads.
  • Engage in regular communication with patients' families, referring physicians, and hospital departments regarding care plans and treatment updates, documenting all medical services in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in on-call duties and weekend shifts as required, contributing to value-based reimbursement initiatives and quality improvement programs.
  • Involve in Quality Improvement (QI) and Quality Assurance (QA) activities, assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures related to medical practice and patient care quality.
  • Engage in ongoing process enhancement through the development and application of clinical pathways and related activities, supporting patient involvement in clinical trials and research projects.
  • Provide guidance, teaching, and mentorship to fellows, residents, advanced practice providers, and students, ensuring meaningful collaboration with affiliated medical schools.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Medicine required.
  • Valid Michigan State Physician (MD) or Osteopathic Physician (DO) license required.
  • DEA Registration required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 120 days.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 120 days.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry weights occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing and walking required.
  • Occasional sitting, bending, and reaching activities.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary for patient care.
