The physician is responsible for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of health problems presented by patients.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Cultivate Positive Relationships: Develop and cultivate positive and productive working relationships with other Corewell Health personnel, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, compassion, collaboration, clarity, curiosity, and courage.
- Meet Operational Goals: Assist in meeting operational, financial, and patient satisfaction goals, ensuring timely completion of specific competencies and annual organizational mandatories.
- Assess and Monitor Patient Needs: Assess and monitor the medical needs of patients, providing quality medical services in a cost-effective and appropriate manner, ensuring coverage of case load at all times.
- Communicate Effectively: Communicate regularly with patients, families, referring physicians, specialists, nursing staff, and other hospital departments regarding the plan of care and treatment of patients, including within 24 hours of admission, for any major change in a patient's condition, and within 24 hours prior to discharge.
- Document Medical Services: Document medical services in the patient's medical record in a manner consistent with hospital, payor, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in Quality Initiatives: Participate in on-call and weekend coverage, as required by the Department, and participate in value-based reimbursement programs and quality initiatives, as required by the Department.
- Support Quality Improvement: Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) / Quality Assurance (QA) and peer review activities as requested, assisting in the development of policies and procedures as they relate to medical practice and quality patient care.
- Provide Oversight and Mentorship: Provide oversight, teaching, and mentorship of fellows, residents, APPs (e.g., physician assistants and advance practice registered nurses), and students, and others (as appropriate) providing services to patients, including meaningful participation with the affiliated medical schools as requested.
- Required Qualifications: Doctorate, LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required, or LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required, CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required, CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required, or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required, CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required.
