The physician is responsible for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of health problems presented by patients.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and cultivate positive and productive working relationships with other healthcare professionals, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, compassion, collaboration, clarity, curiosity, and courage.
- Assist in meeting operational, financial, and patient satisfaction goals, ensuring timely completion of specific competencies and annual organizational mandatories.
- Assess and monitor the medical needs of patients, providing quality medical services in a cost-effective and appropriate manner, ensuring coverage of case load at all times.
- Communicate regularly with patients, families, referring physicians, specialists, nursing staff, and other hospital departments regarding the plan of care and treatment of patients, including within 24 hours of admission, for any major change in a patient's condition, and within 24 hours prior to discharge.
- Document medical services in the patient's medical record in a manner consistent with hospital, payor, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in on-call and weekend coverage, as required by the department, and participate in value-based reimbursement programs and quality initiatives, as required by the department.
- Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) / Quality Assurance (QA) and peer review activities as requested, and assist in the development of policies and procedures related to medical practice and quality patient care.
- Support patient participation in clinical trials and research projects, assessing clinical safety and efficacy data, consistent with Research Institute policies.
- Provide oversight, teaching, and mentorship of fellows, residents, APPs (e.g., physician assistants and advance practice registered nurses), and students, and others providing services to patients, including meaningful participation with affiliated medical schools as requested.
