NORTHWEST SURGICAL is seeking a full-time Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant to join our outpatient rehabilitation team. This role presents an excellent opportunity for professional growth and mentorship in the field of rehabilitation therapy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer routine patient care and treatment under the direct supervision of licensed therapists.
  • Monitor and report patient responses to therapy, ensuring timely communication of any significant changes.
  • Facilitate patient transport to treatment areas, including assistance with mobility aids as necessary.
  • Provide guidance to patients navigating the facility and ensure a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Manage patient check-in processes efficiently, communicating any potential delays.
  • Assist in gathering patient information, confirming insurance details, and updating demographic records.
  • Encourage the use of our patient portal for enhanced communication.
  • Handle payment processing for copays and maintain accurate cash handling procedures.
  • Ensure a clean and organized waiting area for patients and visitors.
  • Report any security concerns to supervisors and assist in maintaining a safe environment.
  • Support front desk operations during staff absences or meetings.
  • Engage in project work during downtime to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of the department by performing light cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Change linens in treatment areas according to established protocols.
  • Participate in the cleaning and maintenance of therapy equipment as per departmental guidelines.
  • Educate patients on the use of therapeutic modalities as directed by therapists.
  • Assist in collecting patient feedback and accurately entering data into electronic health records.
  • Coordinate the ordering of therapy supplies and maintain inventory levels.
  • Manage provider schedules by scheduling follow-up appointments and monitoring waitlists.
  • Perform various clerical duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Stay informed about healthcare developments and departmental updates through meetings and communications.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an associate degree or at least two years of college coursework preferred.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare environment is advantageous.
  • A strong interest in pursuing a career in rehabilitation therapy is preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service, organizational skills, and attention to detail are essential.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with patients and colleagues.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
