Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of leadership, research, and clinical achievement, with a deep understanding of the complex interplay between psychiatry and cancer. They will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the department, including clinical services, research, and education, and will work closely with our faculty and staff to develop and implement a clear vision for the department's future.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong commitment to excellence, a passion for teaching and mentoring, and a proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams. The ideal candidate will be a board-certified psychiatrist with a strong research background, and will have experience in academic administration, preferably at the level of Associate Professor or Full Professor.

Relocation to the New York City area is required for this role, and the successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with our regional network sites in Manhattan, Long Island, Westchester, and New Jersey.

Key qualifications include:

  • MD, MD/PhD in psychiatry; board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry and, preferably, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
  • 5 – 7 years of administrative and leadership experience at an academic institution or cancer center, serving as a Chair or Section/Division Chief.
  • Candidate must meet requirements for medical licensure in New York State.
  • An actively practicing physician is preferred.
  • National and international prominence in psychiatry and, ideally, consultation-liaison psychiatry.

Pay Range: $700,000-$750,000

Physician compensation is based on multiple variables. This range represents annual salary only and does not include supplemental performance-based pay or any one-time payments that eligible candidates may be offered at the time of hire.
