Job Summary

This entry-level position is part of the skilled maintenance team at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities to resolve operational and safety concerns, maintaining the institution's facilities in a safe and operating condition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with site personnel, other trades, and subcontractors to provide written support, convey information, and coordinate work assignment activities.
  • Handle confidential and non-routine information.
  • Build and maintain a work atmosphere of trust and respect by establishing open communication among team members.
  • Coordinate with administration and other trades to complete projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Guide other maintenance workers in performing skilled crafts to provide support to workers developing their knowledge of specific skills with trade.
  • Inspect facilities, systems, and their components to ensure safety and cleanliness, and identify necessary repairs.
  • Install various items and/or system components of a complex nature to maintain the institution in a safe, comfortable, and operating condition.
  • Maintain tools and/or equipment to ensure their availability in safe operating condition.
  • Perform a variety of facility and equipment repair and maintenance activities at multiple sites within areas of trade expertise.
  • Prepare and maintain various documentation to provide written support and/or convey information.
  • Procure equipment and supplies in collaboration with onsite and outside vendors to maintain inventory and ensure availability of required items.
  • Respond to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns and take appropriate actions to maintain the overall educational environment.
  • Test and/or troubleshoot various items dependent on specific trade expertise to assess item functioning and recommend repair or replacement.
Requirements
  • High School diploma and/or equivalent required. Recent graduate of a relevant program for this entry-level position is desired.
  • Education in the skilled maintenance field with the ability and desire to learn and be taught skilled trades and/or construction, audio-visual (electronics), electrical, plumbing, locksmith, or HVAC.
  • Valid Driver's License and Evidence of Insurability.
