Radiation Therapist, Radiation Oncology Specialist

As a Radiation Therapist with the University of Chicago Medicine's Radiation Oncology team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of medical innovation.
Under the guidance of a Radiation Oncologist, you will administer ionizing radiation and participate in the planning of patients receiving radiation therapy. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the medical center's policies and procedures
- Perform initial setup checks, chart QA for new setups, and maintain consistency in daily setups
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Conduct simulation and treatment procedures
- Assist with training and evaluation of radiation therapy students
- Ensure adherence to patient safety standards
- Participate in the evaluation of treatment devices
- Support departmental QA and QI initiatives
- Adhere to Radiation Protection guidelines at all times
- Attend staff meetings and departmental in-services
- Maintain compliance with medical center and regulatory agency standards
- Support the team concept and departmental goals
Requirements
- A completed high school diploma or GED from an accredited educational body
- The satisfactory completion of a formal radiation therapy program from an AMA-approved educational body
- Certification from the American Registry for Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or eligibility to sit for the board exam
- License with the Illinois Emergency Medical Agency (IEMA)
Work Details
- Job Type/FTE: PRN
- Shift: Day - 8 hours
- Unit/Department: Radiation Oncology
- CBA Code: Non-Union
In this role, you will work approximately 8-20 hours per week, scheduled to work the Day shift, and will not be scheduled for on-call shifts. The days of the week that you are scheduled will be Monday-Friday as needed.
