Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Manage the safety performance, operating practices, and financial productivity of the operation, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Customer Interface: Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, monitoring the quality of service and ensuring that contractual arrangements are met.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Assume a leadership role in supervising crews, schedules, and personnel, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful operation of the railway.
  • Financial Management: Maintain payroll within the targeted budget, ensuring that financial resources are allocated effectively.
  • Incident Investigation: Conduct thorough investigations into incidents, such as derailments and personal injuries, and prepare associated reports.
  • Training and Development: Hire and train new employees in operating practices, ensuring that they are equipped to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • On-Call Responsibilities: Work on a 24/7/365 schedule, being available to respond to operational needs and emergencies.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Five years of work experience in the railroad industry, with supervisory duties; seven years of experience in the railroad industry preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge and understanding of FRA regulations, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Education: Associate's degree; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Certifications: Valid driver's license.
