Position Summary
The Floor Maintenance Technician is tasked with ensuring the upkeep of all flooring surfaces while maintaining exemplary standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Floor Maintenance Technician include, but are not limited to:

  1. Cleaning various areas including offices, hallways, and communal spaces.
  2. Relocating furniture as necessary before and after cleaning tasks.
  3. Performing cleaning tasks such as dusting, mopping, stripping, buffing, shampooing, and waxing floors.
  4. Accurately measuring and mixing cleaning chemicals.
  5. Operating chemical dispensing systems.
  6. Properly labeling all cleaning agents.
  7. Maintaining and storing cleaning equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) effectively.
  8. Keeping track of floor areas and scheduling maintenance tasks.
  9. Reporting maintenance issues to the supervisor.
  10. Assisting with the collection of hazardous waste in accordance with safety protocols.
  11. Participating in regular training sessions related to compliance and safety.
  12. Performing additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A foundational understanding of janitorial duties and responsibilities.
  • Strong listening and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and the public.
  • Proficiency in English may be required for certain positions.
  • The ability to anticipate and meet client needs.
  • A professional appearance, with uniforms required at specific locations.
  • Punctuality and reliability.

Education and Experience
Preferred qualifications include:

  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial services.

Work Environment
The work environment includes:

  • Small to large office settings and potentially airport environments.
  • Exposure to both public and private restrooms.
  • Safety glasses required for specific tasks.
  • A fast-paced atmosphere with moderate noise levels.
  • Regular exposure to dust, odors, cleaning products, and noise.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands of this position include:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting and moving of items weighing at least 40 pounds.
  • Performing repetitive movements such as bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision and depth perception.
