Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Dental Hygienist to join our team at Coast Dental in Lake Mary, FL. As a key member of our dental team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and delivering high-quality dental hygiene services.
Responsibilities
- Administer local anesthesia and nitrous analgesia under the direct supervision of a dentist.
- Assess patients' teeth, bone, and periodontal tissues, and co-diagnose with the dentist to develop treatment plans.
- Remove soft and hard deposits and extrinsic stain from teeth using hand instruments, ultrasonic cavitron inserts, and prophy handpieces.
- Instruct patients on good oral hygiene practices and provide health education as needed.
- Perform prophylaxis, full mouth debridement, and root planning as part of periodontal therapy.
- Use lasers for intrasulcular periodontal procedures and tooth whitening.
- Expose, develop, and mount dental x-rays, and apply cavity-preventive agents and pit and fissure sealants.
- Remove temporary and permanent cement, make and cement temporary crowns, and recement permanent crowns and bridges.
- Place and remove temporary sedative fillings, remove sutures, and make recommendations for recare intervals and follow-up needs.
- Perform all general orthodontic wires placement and removal procedures, including bands, and adjust dentures extraorally.
- Take Facebow transfers and Bite registrations, and construct bleaching trays for take-home whitening.
- Apply bleaching agents and activation with non-laser light.
Qualifications
- Licensed and in good standing with the State of Florida.
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in dental hygiene.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
- Good eye sight and manual dexterity, as they use dental instruments within a patient's mouth.
Working Conditions
Registered dental hygienists work in clean, well-lit offices with strict adherence to proper radiological procedures, infection control protocols, and the use of appropriate protective devices when administering anesthetic gas or working in the dental laboratory.
Dental hygienists wear safety glasses, surgical masks, full arm length gowns/lab coats, and gloves to protect themselves and patients from infectious diseases during all patient care.
