About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Registered Dental Hygienist to join our team at Coast Dental. As a key member of our dental team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and delivering high-quality dental hygiene services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer local anesthesia and nitrous analgesia under the direct supervision of a dentist.
  • Assess patients' teeth, bone, and periodontal tissues for abnormalities or suspected diseases.
  • Co-diagnose with the dentist to develop appropriate periodontal treatment plans.
  • Remove soft and hard deposits and extrinsic stain from teeth using hand instruments, ultrasonic cavitron inserts, and prophy handpieces.
  • Instruct patients on good oral hygiene practices and recommend appropriate products or devices for home care.
  • Perform prophylaxis, full mouth debridement, and root planning as necessary.
  • Use lasers for intrasulcular periodontal procedures and tooth whitening procedures.
  • Place and remove periodontal packs, locally-administered antibiotics, and irrigation and desensitizing procedures.
  • Expose, develop, and mount dental x-rays.
  • Apply cavity-preventive agents, pit and fissure sealants, and temporary and permanent cement.
  • Make and cement temporary crowns, recement permanent crowns and bridges, and place and remove temporary sedative fillings.
  • Remove sutures, make recommendations for recare intervals, and perform general orthodontic wires placement and removal procedures.
  • Take Facebow transfers, Bite registrations, and adjust dentures extraorally.
  • Take impressions and construct bleaching trays for take-home whitening.
  • Apply bleaching agents and activation with non-laser light.

Requirements

  • Licensed and in good standing with the State of Florida.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in dental hygiene.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
  • Ability to work well as part of the total dental team and have good eye sight and manual dexterity.

Working Conditions

Registered dental hygienists work in clean, well-lit offices with strict adherence to proper radiological procedures, infection control protocols, and the use of appropriate protective devices. Safety glasses, surgical masks, full arm length gowns/lab coats, and gloves are worn to protect themselves and patients from infectious diseases during all patient care.
