We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist to join our team in the Operating Room at Children's Health (Dallas). As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
Key Responsibilities- Pre-Operative Preparation: Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures by ensuring that surgical equipment is functioning properly and safely, and preparing the sterile field for the surgical procedure by securing sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment based on the surgeon's preference cards.
- Surgical Assistance: Scrub, gown, and glove using sterile technique, set up sterile field with instruments, supplies, and equipment, and assist in draping the sterile field. Pass supplies, equipment, or instruments, sponge or suction an operative site, prepare and cut suture material, transfer and pour irrigation fluids, label intraoperative medications according to policy, and transfer those medications within the sterile field.
- Post-Operative Care: Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization on completion of the surgery, and assist the surgical team with cleaning of the operating room on completion of the surgery for the next scheduled procedure.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in unit-based quality improvement activities, lead unit-based quality improvement activities, and manage sterilizer guidelines for the department.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training beyond high school required.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist required.
- Certifications: Current Surgical Technologist Certification issued by an approved organization required.
- Skills: Proficient in professional practice, effective communication, conflict resolution, and continuous evaluation of patient care and team needs.
