Unit Overview

This surgical unit features 12 operating rooms and a dedicated procedure area, specializing in a variety of fields including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, ENT, Urology, Podiatry, Gynecology, Plastic Surgery, and Hand Surgery. The facility is equipped with two DaVinci robotic systems to support our advanced surgical teams in General Surgery, Cardiothoracic, Urology, and Gynecology.

Corewell Health encompasses three hospitals, an outpatient surgical center, a regional cancer treatment facility, rehabilitation services, two long-term care centers, and home care and hospice options, along with 34 affiliated physician practices. We deliver comprehensive inpatient and outpatient healthcare services across Southwest Michigan.

Role Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) operates within the framework of the nursing process, adhering to the ANA scope of practice to deliver professional nursing care. This includes patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and facilitate discharge. The RN ensures high-quality patient care under the guidance of the Nurse Leader, following Corewell Health's policies and procedures, while recognizing the influence of nursing care and patient/family collaboration on health outcomes. The RN collaborates with patients and families to incorporate their input and objectives into the care plan and develops educational strategies for patients and families, accurately documenting this information in the health record.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required within five years.
  • Graduates from non-accredited nursing programs must have at least one year of acute care experience or two years in a licensed healthcare role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
  • Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.

Work Environment

This position involves full-time employment with a day shift schedule, typically from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with on-call weekend responsibilities.
