The Patient Care Coordinator plays a vital role in delivering comprehensive care to both surgical and non-surgical patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Educate patients and their families regarding pre-operative and post-operative care, as well as the treatments offered within the practice.
- Schedule surgical procedures and pre-admission testing, acting as a key point of contact between patients and practice support staff.
- Monitor patients' treatment progress and relay essential information to physicians for referrals and medication orders.
- Maintain a professional demeanor while fostering personal and professional development.
Essential Functions:
- Manage incoming calls, schedule patient appointments, and triage patient inquiries effectively.
- Ensure timely follow-up on telephone communications and prioritize tasks to maintain a steady workflow.
- Utilize problem-solving skills to address patient concerns based on established protocols.
- Thoroughly explain procedures, treatments, and nursing care to patients and their families.
- Review patient charts to confirm the presence of all test results and correspondence prior to physician consultations.
- Obtain necessary authorizations from insurance providers and ensure patient preferences are prioritized in urgent situations.
- Facilitate a smooth patient flow throughout the practice.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- No prior experience required.
- Preferred: Over one year of experience in a front desk medical office setting and one year in healthcare customer service.
