Key Responsibilities
  • Independently troubleshoot and repair complex issues with construction equipment, working at an expert level in the field.
  • Use manuals, repair manuals, and technical resources to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Operate lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other equipment to lift and move parts into position for repair.
  • Use hand and power tools to remove, install, replace, rebuild, repair, and test parts and equipment.
  • Work with multiple resources and computers to reference parts, gather information, and enter data into record systems.
  • Climb onto, under, and into vehicles to access all parts of the equipment.
  • Use overhead hoists, lift devices, forklifts, and other equipment to move items off vehicles and into locations for disassembly, repair, and reassembly.
  • Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fuel system maintenance.
  • Use welders to weld frames and power grinders to smooth out welds.
  • Lift and position hydraulic rams for press-fit installations.
  • Use power washers and spray paint equipment to clean and paint vehicles.
  • Reprogram equipment controllers using instruments and computers.
  • Resolve complex machine issues with Cat and Technical Service.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Eight years of experience with Cat equipment or similar equipment, with a deep understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, and climb to perform diagnosis and repairs.
  • Effective vision to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports.
  • Ability to lift and position parts up to 112 pounds and use mechanical hoists for heavier parts.
  • Basic proficiency in using PC-based equipment and parts information, with the ability to learn and use diagnostic and troubleshooting software.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid state driver's license and safe driving record, with some positions requiring a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or DOT medical certification.
