Housing Specialist Job Opportunity

Westhab Inc., a community development organization, is seeking a skilled Permanent Housing Liaison to join our team.

The successful candidate will work out of the Bronx, NY, identifying permanent housing solutions for clients and establishing strong relationships with landlords and management companies.

  • Maintain liaison with DHS Housing Placement Unit to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with housing laws, building codes, and lease agreements, guaranteeing a safe and healthy living environment for our clients.
  • Collaborate with Case Management to identify potential clients and develop effective strategies for securing apartments.
  • Resolve conflicts between landlords and management companies in a fair and timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of available housing options, ensuring access to a wide range of choices for our clients.
  • Pursue new housing opportunities through ongoing networks and partnerships.
  • Prepare detailed reports on housing codes and compliance, providing valuable insights for our organization.
  • Notify Case Management of apartment readiness and any issues that may arise.
  • Collaborate with Case Management staff to prepare housing packages and ensure a smooth transition for our clients.

This role requires strong negotiation skills, particularly when negotiating lease agreements. Knowledge of state and city housing laws and codes is essential. A valid driver's license is required, and bilingual English/Spanish skills are highly valued.

We offer a competitive salary, estimated at $55,000 - $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience, as well as a supportive work environment that fosters empowerment and impact. Our commitment to OSHA standards and regulations ensures a safe working condition for all employees.
