Job Overview

WORKING HOURS:

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position encompasses all clinical and non-clinical tasks related to the urgent, non-urgent, and routine transport of patients who are ill, injured, or unable to move independently. Responsibilities include responding to both emergency and non-emergency patient requests, adhering to all organizational policies, and maintaining current certifications as outlined in the Policy and Procedure Handbook. The role requires demonstrating proficiency in all relevant patient care aspects, complying with OSHA regulations, and adhering to HIPAA standards. Accurate documentation of patient care on designated forms is mandatory, along with obtaining necessary signatures. Candidates must exhibit knowledge and skill in using all relevant equipment and apparatus, with the ability to lift and carry a minimum of 125 pounds using patient moving devices. Additional duties include daily maintenance tasks, participation in committee activities as assigned by leadership, routine inventory of narcotics, and ensuring ambulances and equipment are kept in a clean and functional state. Quality improvement initiatives involve checking ambulances and equipment each shift and participating in training as directed by the medical director or leadership. Reporting equipment maintenance issues to supervisors is essential. The role also includes assisting in the orientation and training of both volunteer and career personnel, maintaining professionalism and courtesy at all times, and fulfilling other duties as specified by supervisors or the organization. Regular meetings with the Chief, Supervisor, or their designees may be required to discuss organizational and customer needs.

EQUIPMENT USED:
Personal computers, telephones, photocopiers, audiovisual equipment, ambulances, and all clinical equipment related to patient transport.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience in emergency and non-emergency patient transport is required. Candidates must demonstrate strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Certification as a Paramedic or PreHospital Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania, along with current CPR, ACLS, PHTLS/BTLS (preferred), EVOC, NIMS, and PALS/APLS certifications, is necessary. Additional qualifications may be specified by the organization.

INITIATIVE AND JUDGMENT:
Previous experience in similar roles is essential, showcasing initiative, sound judgment, and creativity. Candidates must be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively, excel in interpersonal skills, and be self-motivated. The ability to exercise appropriate judgment regarding personnel supervision and program operations is crucial.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Candidates must practice cost containment concerning supplies, equipment, and other variable expenses.

SUPERVISION:
Ability to operate with minimal supervision while recognizing when to seek guidance is necessary.

REPORTS AND RECORDS:
Responsible for all relevant patient documentation and the preparation and presentation of reports as required by the organization.

CONTACTS:
Frequent interactions with management, staff, social workers, patients, nurses, and physicians from various healthcare facilities.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work occurs in both office settings and emergency/non-emergency patient care environments. The role requires walking and standing for extended periods, with a high energy level expected.
