Job Title: Direct Support Professional

Redwood Family Care Network is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting adults with developmental disabilities in their daily lives.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with care of dietary, hygiene, grooming, and dressing needs
  • Redirect behaviors with various activities as needed
  • Provide support to program participants that meets their needs and provides opportunities for community
  • Must be familiar with the Residential Service Guidelines issued by the Developmental Disabilities Administration
  • Ensures that the daily needs of the participants are met, including personal hygiene, food preparation, house cleaning, shopping, and monitoring of health needs, including supervision of medication
  • Assists participants with regularly accessing the community to take part of a variety of outings of the participants' choosing
  • Promotes and safeguards each participant's ability to make decisions and to freely exercise his or her rights
  • Attends staff meetings as required by the House Manager or the Site Supervisor and/or Administrator
  • Attend training required by the agency, DDA, and other parties
  • Takes part in the development and implementation of the IISP for each participant with whom they work
  • Must enroll and complete Nurse Delegation study course and take the test within 30 days of employment
  • Provides necessary support and supervision of participants
  • Maintains professional working relationships with other services providers, the participants' parents/relatives/guardians, and other agency staff
  • Responsible for timely completion of all documentation, including, but not limited to, the medication log, shift notes, progress notes, data sheets, incident reports, and client financial records
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum Experience: Personal experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities with challenging behaviors strongly preferred
  • Minimum Driving Experience: Must have a valid in-state driver's license and be able to provide current car insurance
