Responsibilities


The Anesthesia Technician plays a vital role in delivering patient care, ensuring safety, and performing technical tasks to assist anesthesia and nursing teams in surgical and procedural settings.

This position addresses patient-specific requirements, including managing blood, medications, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures. Responsibilities include executing patient identification protocols to guarantee the accurate delivery of blood products and medications. The technician operates surgical equipment under the supervision of a licensed provider.

The Anesthesia Technician is responsible for maintaining adequate stock levels of supplies and necessary equipment in all operating rooms and pre/post-operative areas.

Additionally, this role ensures that operating rooms, procedural areas, and pre/post rooms are thoroughly cleaned and prepared for subsequent patients, promoting safe and efficient operations.

The technician also cleans equipment and adheres to infection control protocols to support anesthesia practices in surgical and procedural environments.

This position is an integral member of the Anesthesia OR emergency response/code team, ensuring that all emergency safety equipment is available and functioning properly.

In designated pre/post areas, Anesthesia Technicians assist with patient intake, which includes obtaining height, weight, and vital signs, as well as connecting appropriate monitoring devices.

Qualifications


This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of one year of clinical or hospital experience is preferred.

Candidates must be proficient in both spoken and written English. Computer skills are essential. The ability to work independently and make sound decisions is crucial. Experience in a surgical environment is preferred, along with direct patient care experience, such as CNA or PCA roles. Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.

Collaboration in a team setting is essential, along with strong independent problem-solving skills to address unpredictable situations. Candidates should be able to multitask and adapt to changes in workflow.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft computer systems is necessary. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to concentrate, pay attention to detail, and maintain focus for extended periods during shifts.

Physical requirements include the ability to use both hands adequately, lift over 20 lbs., walk long distances, kneel or bend occasionally, and stand for prolonged periods.

BLS Certification or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire is required.
