Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to join our Codes and Standards Committee as a member. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential remodeling and construction, with a minimum of 10 years of practical experience in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the adoption of a State Building Code based on a nationally recognized model building code and related activities.
  • Contribute to code adoption through representation of respective areas and national model code review and revisions.
  • Meet monthly with the committee to review progress of building and fire safety code development efforts.
  • Participate in meetings and work groups of the Codes Amendment Subcommittee.
  • Serve on panels for appeal hearings and complaints, and in other groups such as the Building Code Training Council, Fire Code Training Council, and the Fire Prevention Code Advisory Committee.
Requirements
  • Be a resident of the state of Connecticut.
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of practical experience in the construction of new buildings or conversion of existing buildings to form mid- to large-scale residential uses.
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the remodeling of residential properties, especially three-family and larger apartment buildings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of experience in multifamily residential construction.
  • At least 10 years of experience in residential remodeling.
Working Conditions

The Codes and Standards Committee meets mostly virtually once a month, and during the development of new state codes, another once or twice a month. Members may also serve on panels for appeal hearings and complaints, and in other groups.
