Building Inspector

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Inspector to join our team at the City of Hartford, CT. As a Building Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that buildings and structures in the city meet the necessary safety and building codes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of buildings and structures to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
- Identify and report any defects or hazards found during inspections
- Work with building owners and contractors to resolve any issues found during inspections
- Provide information and guidance to the public on building codes and regulations
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited vocational school, high school, or the equivalent
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in building construction, electrical installation, heating and ventilation, or plumbing
- Valid driver's license
- Connecticut certification as an Assistant Building Official
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in code enforcement or building inspection
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
