Job Overview

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Senior Processing Operations Supervisor is accountable for overseeing the efficient processing of ore and managing all related activities to ensure that the objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) for Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC), production output, concentrate grade, quality, and cost efficiency are met within the processing sectors. This role also involves supervising the planning, staffing, and cost management functions associated with Processing Operations. Furthermore, the Supervisor is responsible for guiding team members to align their operations with the core values of the organization. Timely and precise reporting for the area is also a critical component of this position. The Senior Supervisor collaborates closely with the Processing Operations Superintendent to establish departmental plans.

Reports to the Processing Operations Superintendent

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION

Internal:

  • Mill/Crusher Operations, SXEW (including Tailings and Water Management), Mill/Crusher Maintenance, Electrical & Instrumentation/Processing Maintenance, Reliability/Condition Monitoring & Planning, Facilities Maintenance, Engineering, and Training

External:

  • Mine, Business Services, Human Resources, HSEC, and Contractor Services (as necessary)

DIRECT REPORTS

Internal:

  • Processing Supervisors

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all personnel adhere to Pinto Valley Mine and MSHA safety protocols and procedures.
  • Guarantee compliance with Pinto Valley Mine standard operating procedures for all employees and contractors.
  • Oversee that all team members and contractors are adequately trained and certified for their assigned tasks.
  • Maintain adherence to local, state, federal, and company regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Develop a competent departmental team through effective recruitment and training.
  • Collaborate with the Processing Training Coordinator to provide necessary training aligned with departmental needs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and offer constructive feedback and coaching to team members.
  • Define and achieve professional development objectives for team members.
  • Mentor and support the growth and development of departmental staff.
  • Provide insights to Mill Operations Senior Leadership regarding departmental budget development.
  • Ensure the availability of required manpower and equipment to meet planned activities while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Allocate resources and establish work plans to fulfill operational requirements.
  • Monitor production targets and address any issues promptly.
  • Set clear expectations and objectives to meet departmental and production goals.
  • Offer expertise and leadership to both internal and external departments as needed.
  • Ensure accurate operational data is collected for daily, weekly, and monthly production reporting.
  • Implement operational programs, processes, and policies to comply with organizational governance standards.
  • Identify opportunities for adopting best practices and enhancing production processes.
  • Proactively address potential issues in collaboration with Processing Maintenance to mitigate or resolve them in real-time.
  • Initiate improvements to existing business systems, processes, and equipment to enhance departmental performance.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained in optimal condition through effective operational practices and maintenance coordination.
  • Review and align long-term and short-term maintenance plans with production demands.
  • Exhibit behaviors that reflect support for Capstone's Vision and Values: Accountability, Excellence, Results, and Responsibility.
  • Fulfill all other assigned duties as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge

  • Experience in Processing Operations.
  • Strong understanding of theories, practices, methods, and procedures in processing operations.
  • Familiarity with SAP is advantageous.

Key Competencies / Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with the Mine Manager and department Superintendents to coordinate plans and resources.
  • Capability to engage hourly operating crews and supervisory staff, providing constructive performance feedback.
  • A minimum of 4 years in an operational leadership role, such as General Foreman or Senior Supervisor.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Ability to foster teamwork, confidence, and collaboration.
  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • Proficient in English (speaking, comprehension, reading, and writing).
