Public Relations Manager

This position is responsible for developing and managing relationships and communications with consumer media and placing information/stories about Charter in news mediums. The role identifies and takes action to positively promote Charter's products and services to improve consumer perception of Charter. Works closely with operations and all functional areas as well as the corporate communications team to maximize media attention for Charter.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Manage Communications Strategies: Create and implement effective communications plans to promote Charter's products and services, enhance consumer perception, and maintain a positive reputation.
- Build and Maintain Media Relationships: Establish and nurture relationships with key local news media contacts to secure media coverage and promote Charter's brand.
- Write and Produce Communications Materials: Research and write announcements, articles, and other materials geared to customers and the community at large.
- Manage Field Leadership Communications: Write in key executives' voice, secure outside speaking opportunities, and counsel them on relevant subjects.
- Assist in Formulating Marketing Communications: Help develop local and regional marketing communications, crisis communications, issues management, and other communications functions.
- Research Communication Possibilities: Explore diverse media options, including print publications, websites, online and social media.
- Produce Multiple Materials and Manage Projects: Create multiple materials and manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
- Be Familiar with Charter Positions and Policies: Understand and help develop Charter positions, policies, and messages.
- Interact with Employees and Management: Interact with employees in all business disciplines and at all levels in the company.
- Promote Charter Brands and Businesses: Promote all Charter brands and businesses, new services, initiatives, improvements, and general information across multiple platforms.
- Required Skills and Abilities: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; ability to use personal computer and software applications; in-depth writing and media relations skills; ability to analyze and interpret data; ability to attend to detail; ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel; ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and tasks; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
- Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field or equivalent experience.
- Required Work Experience: 5+ years in communications-related position.
- Preferred Skills and Abilities: News media or PR agency media relations experience; management or leadership experience.
- Preferred Education: None specified.
- Preferred Work Experience: 1+ years of news media or PR agency media relations experience; 2+ years of management or leadership experience.
