Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the operations of visitor services within park facilities, ensuring a high-quality experience for all guests.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of five to six frontline Supervisory Park Rangers.
- Manage all aspects of personnel responsibilities, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and staff development.
- Guide the team in creating inclusive and engaging programming that resonates with diverse audiences.

- Collaborate with senior management to set and achieve annual objectives and project goals.
- Assess the effectiveness of interpretive programs and operational initiatives.
- Work closely with supervisors to foster innovative programming and enhance visitor engagement through various platforms, including social media.
- Review and provide feedback on the design of exhibits, publications, and audiovisual materials.
- Evaluate proposals from internal and external sources, offering recommendations on their viability.
- Lead the recruitment and training efforts for a diverse team of permanent and seasonal interpreters, ensuring a commitment to inclusivity.
- Ensure fair practices in employee selection for training, promotions, and career development opportunities.
- Conduct performance evaluations for Supervisory Park Rangers and oversee appraisals for additional staff.
- Address employee concerns and resolve issues, seeking assistance for more complex matters.
- Navigate labor management relations, addressing grievances effectively.
- Foster a culture of teamwork and inclusivity within the department.
Physical Requirements: The role involves extended periods of desk work, requiring skills in communication, reading, writing, and computer usage. Occasional physical activity, including standing or walking, may be necessary. Sound judgment and decision-making skills are essential, particularly in high-pressure situations.
Work Environment: Most tasks are performed indoors in a controlled climate, with occasional outdoor duties that may involve travel to various sites under varying weather conditions. Standard working hours apply, with flexibility required during peak visitation periods or special events.
Telework: This position is eligible for telework, subject to supervisor approval.
Employment Conditions

- Appointment is contingent upon a background investigation.

Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Relevant experience is critical, with at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in federal service. This includes managing interpretive and educational services, supervising diverse teams, and collaborating with various stakeholders.
Volunteer Experience: Relevant volunteer work will be considered in evaluating qualifications.
Education: No educational substitutions are allowed for experience at this grade level.
